Basically there are 2 options available for you to get a much wanted ID for yourselves to be able to login to Indian railway catering and tourism corporation eticketing portal as well as their other website.

Option 1: Create a new account to get new irctc user ID

This requires you to fill up a registration form. After completing all the details in the form and submitting it online, you will have a brand new ID allotted to you from IRCTC.  Just follow the process for irctc registration explained here.

Option 2: Download the mobile app of IRCTC

Most people have an android phone or a windows phone. You can use your phones to make irctc id.  When you download the app of IRCTC from google play store, you will automatically be creating a new user id on irctc.

Here is how to do it:

• Download the IRCTC rail connect app from here. This  is latest version and replaces older railsaarthi and other railway apps and adds on new features like swipe, shuffle among trains to select them for booking your tickets online.
• After installing the app on your device you will be asked to provide a username. This username could be anything, it's your choice.
• After providing a username and other details to IRCTC, like email address, gender, age etc a confirmation message will be sent to your email address.
• OTP (One Time Password) will also be sent to verify your phone number.
• After verifying both your phone and email, a new email will be sent by IRCTC mentioning your user id and password. You must change this automatically generated password to be safe.
• If you have habit of forgetting password,  you can also assign a short pin, just like we do for ATM transactions, in order to login to irctc.

That's it! Within short time not only you are able to create a new user id on IRCTC, but also has activated it.

Important Notes

• Please note that you are allowed to make one and only one user id on IRCTC. Attempting to make more than one account is restricted and can lead to suspension of your account. Having said that here is a solution to it. Follow this process to reactivate your irctc account.
• You can use same user id to login on IRCTC next generation online ticketing system from both app and website irctc.co.in.
• What if you happen to forget your newly created id on IRCTC? This is quite a common problem. Because we don't book railway tickets often, except for holidays, we tend to forget the IRCTC ID. 6. See booked ticket history
7. Change your boarding point
8. Link your aadhar card with irctc to book more than 12 tickets using same user id.
