Indian railway is starting new train between Delhi railway station and Maa Vaishno Devi Katra station from October 5, 2019.
This will reduce time for darshan in temple by almost by 4 hrs since now the distance between New Delhi and Katra will be covered in 8 hrs instead of usual 12 hrs. The faster speed of Vandey Bharat Express train will help in quicker journey.
Home minister Amit Shah will flag off the train for passengers on its first run. As per railway schedule and timetable the train will commence its journey from Delhi railway station at 6 AM and will reach the destination katra railway station at 2 PM in afternoon.
On return journey, same train will leave katra at 3 PM in afternoon and will reach New Delhi at 11 PM at night.
Prime minister Narendra Modi is quite delighted at the launch of this train. This is what he has to say in his latest tweet:

- There are 16 car/ coaches in the train
- There are total of 1128 seats in the train
- General AC chair car type coaches are 14 which have 936 seats
- There are 2 Executive AC Chair car type coaches as well in which 104 seats are currently available for booking.
You can login to irctc website for booking railway tickets or use one of the railway apps for booking ticket fast.
What about the fare?
As far as fare is concerned, passenger will have to pay a total sum of Rs 1600 if he is travelling in normal chair car bogie. The fare is much more, as you would expect, for travelling in Executive class coach. It is Rs 3000
To make your journey pleasant and comfortable many services are provided by the hospitable staff of this train. Some of these are listed below:
- fast journey is provided by allowing this train to run at speed of 160 km/hr
- Depending in time breakfast, lunch and dinner is being provided to the passengers.
- On occasion of Navratri festival, special vegeterian meals are being provided.
