Please note that above rates of food items served by IRCTC are for mail/express/passenger trains only. Rajdhani, Duronto, Shatabdi, Tejas, Gatiman, Vande Bharat express trains have separate price structure and mostly the cost of food is included within train ticket fare, for those who opt for food in train.

Updates in IRCTC Food Rates

Indian Railway/ IRCTC has updated food charges recently. Here is the Mail/ Express revised tariff for standard meals:

  •  Breakfast (Veg): Rs 40
  •  Breakfast (Non-veg): Rs 50
  •  Standard Meal (Veg): Rs 80
  •  Standard Meal (Non-Veg with Egg Curry): Rs 90
  •  Standard Meal (Non-Veg with Chicken Curry): Rs 130
Biryani dish is quite popular among travelers and hence IRCTC will now serve 3 types of Biryani as a standard meal variety at the following new rates:
  • Veg Biryani: Rs 80
  • Egg Biryani: Rs 90
  • Chicken Biryani: Rs 110
A new snack dish of regional flavor is introduced. 350 gm of it will cost Rs 50.

Tea in Duronto, Rajdhani, Shatabdi will also now cost more. For example, the morning tea will now cost Rs 35 in the first AC and Executive Chair Car coaches and Rs 20 in the 2nd AC, 3rd AC and Chair Car coaches. The rate for morning tea will be Rs 15 in the sleeper class of Duronto trains.
