Southern Railways Free Monthly Seasonal Ticket for Students
Students commuting from home to college can save money spend in transportation by availing free Monthly Season Ticket (MST) bought by southern railways, one of Indian Railways zones. Monthly ticket is valid for a period of 1 month from the date of purchase. It needs to be renewed periodically.
Student season tickets are issued for the maximum distance of 150 km and are charged at half of normal season ticket issued to adult passengers. But southern railway is giving away it for free. These tickets are valid only if accompanied by valid identity card, and must bear the signature or thumb impression of the holder. Eligibility
Girls students enrolled in 3 year gradutaion courses such as B.A., B.Com., B.Sc.; professional and vocational courses euivalent to B.Ed., LLB., B.E., B.Tech., M.B.B.S, and any other diploma can apply for free MST.
Boys students upto satndard 12 and those attending Madrasa/ High Madrasa/ Senior Madrasa too can take advantage of free student train ticket and save money.
Validity
The free monthly seasonal train ticket is valid for travel between the station of residence and student's institution only, and is only applicable to second class travel in passenger and suburban train services.How to Apply
To apply students can obtain necessary concession order from their instituion and present the same duly filled at the railway counter to get the MST.Student should note that they need to carry the monthly seasonal ticket certificate during the journey else they will be treated traveling without ticket and will be eligible for penalty as per railway rules.
