Indian Railways makes journey easy for physically disabled passengers

To make  it easy for physically disabled persons to travel, Ministry of Railways has come up with huge relief plan. Under this plan there will be two types of quotas for physically challenged persons from which seats will be allotted at the time of reservation. Seats will be made available to a physically challenge person and its escort from these two different quotas at the time of ticket booking.



New rule will also be advantageous for other passengers. General category passengers will be benefited as  if the seats reserved for handicapped quota remains vacant such seats will be made available for general booking. This will increase the seat availability in general quota.

Increase in train fare with revised refund rules on waiting list tickets

Travel by train is going to get costlier as Indian Railways has issued a circular notifying increase in train fare. From Sunday onward fares of first class and all AC class coaches with be raised up by 4.35 percent from current fare. Also 0.5 percent tax will be levied in support of  'Clean Indian Mission' or Swachh Bharat abhiyan.



Just to give you an idea about how much increase in price one may see, consider traveling by train between two important stations, say New Delhi and Mumbai. If you travel in First AC class by mail/ express types of trains between these two cities, you'll be required to pay Rs. 206 more than what you currently pay. Similarly on Delhi Chennai route a passenger will be paying Rs. 140 more than what he pays currently. Both 'swachh bharat cess' i.e. (tax for clean india mission) and service tax is included in it.

Railway Ticket Transfer Scheme - Don't Cancel your Train Ticket

Indian Railways is starting ticket transfer scheme from Nov 12, 2015. Under this scheme if a passenger is unable to travel in a train for which he has purchased a ticket it is not required that he cancels his ticket.
