All About Gatiman Express - The Fastest Train in India

After year of speculation, Gatiman Express - the fastest train thus far of India, has a line clear to run and gallop. Tickets can be booked online.

Just a few minutes from now, railway minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the train from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station giveng it green signal for its run towards Agra Cantt its destination. The distance will be covered in 100 min at a maximum speed of 160km/h.

This is a matter of relief in a way. Although the present Modi Govt is all for high speed trains, including the dream bullet train. there have been many speculations in past upon the success of project.  Last year in June we raised questions and showed you what might hinder speed of train gatiman express.

But this is all behind us and now the India's fastest train is on its its way to first official run. It is a semi high speed train as you know. Note down the train number 12049/ 12050.

There are many new things which Gatiman express has to offer to its passengers. Some of these are - railway hostesses, locomotive of 5400 hp, modern coaches, and much much more.

This train will see improved catering and will have options of different kinds of cuisines. Another unique feature of this train is free of cost on board entertainment facility provided by an agency MyFreeTv.in . Under this facility, passengers can view various entertaining videos during travel on their smart phone, tablets or laptops even without internet connection through WiFi.

With this launch, India has stepped into a new era of high-speed railways and citizen can expect many new train launches in coming years of train falling in semi high and high speed category types. One can say this is first semi bullet train of India.

The coaches to be used in Gatiman Express are new LHB coaches turned out by Rail Coach Factory(RCF), Kapurthala. These coaches have been fitted with bio-toilets and are fit to run at 160 kmph. These coaches have also been fitted with balanced draft gear couplers for smooth ride.

Such high speed trains will be launched on another 9 sectors of Indian Railways soon. We request all the passengers on board to enjoy journey and make sure to keep the train neat and clean.The passenger amenities have been enhanced by provision of soap dispenser and auto genitors in the toilets of trains. For making the coaches free microburst, system has also been fitted in the compartments.

 Gatimaan Express is India's Own Bullet Train under "MakeInIndia" initiative.

The irctc.co.in site - the official railway ticket booking site of India belonging to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has never been hacked, and there is very less chance of anyone attempting to do so. This might sound strange to you.
