Let's see some of the important changes that railways is coming up with for the benefit of passengers:

train in 2017 in INDIA

Refund on tatkal: Until now when you return your tatkal ticket for cancellation you don't get anything back. From July 1, 2017 onward you will get 50 percent back of total cost of your tatkal ticket on cancellation.

Refund on Tickets of Suvidha Trains:  On cancellation of Suvidha Train tickets,  railway customers will get varied refunds depending on which travel class they reserved their seats into. For 2AC - Rs 100 will be deducted. For 3AC Rs 90, and for Sleeper 60 rupees will be deducted before refunding the money on ticket cancellation.

Change in tatkal timings: From july 1, the timings of tatkal ticket booking will also be changed. For AC class the tickets can be booked between 10 to 11 AM, and for non AC class the tatkal booking can be done between 11 AM and 12 noon. Also on 1 identity card only 1 ticket will be allowed to be booked. This rule applies for both online booking and booking at reservation counter. Also customer would need to provide one of the valid identity proofs and other details which railway staff may seek at the time of booking tatkal tickets.

Indian Railway Ticket in Multiple Languages: As of now, when you do railway ticket booking the details like PNR number, train no., coach/seat no. are in English language only. From July 1 onward railway will be furnishing these details in various different languages. This mean you can now have your railway ticket printed in language of your choice.

Only Paperless ticket in Rajdhani and Shatabdi: People travelling in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains won't get a printed ticket from railway. Railway will send an electronic travel ticket on the mobile phone.

Suvidha Trains with Confirmed ticket: Indian Railways will run a new type of train, named "Suvidha". In this train only confirmed tickets will be granted. Thus there will be no waiting list or RAC.

Increase in Coach/Seats in Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains: Seat availability has always been the major issue, especially in trains running between stations of a popular route. To handle this situation, the railway in India has decided to increase the number of seats in trains by increasing more bogies.

Duplicate Trains in Festive Season: Yes, you have read that right! Railway will run duplicates of original passenger trains during festive season to cater the huge rush of passengers and increase in demand of train tickets during festivals like Diwali and New Year.

No Concessional Ticket Without Aadhar Card: Many people book tickets under certain quota's like ladies, handicapped, student quota's to get a concession in fare. But many black marketeers of travel tickets are known to use these quotas to earn big money. To curb this tendency, railway has now made mandatory that quoting of Aadhar card number will be mandatory when claiming concession on railway tickets. If you have applied for aadhar card check aadhar card status here.

End of Flexi Fare: Railway introduces flexible fare scheme few months back where the fare was dynamic and kept on changing depending on availability of seats. This has been a major failure and railway has decided to done away with it.

Changes in Refund Rules: These days when you cancel e-ticket due to cancellation of train, you need file a TDR (ticket depository receipt) to the railway clerk to claim the refund. Now there is no need to do this. Also if you cancel your RAC ticket up to half and hour before the departure of train, your money will be refunded to you by deducting clerical charges.

So, as you can see that Indian Railways is coming you with many exciting new rules that will surely help you use railway services in a better way. Please share these changes with your friends too so that they can also take advantage of new railway rules.

Why even hackers don't hack IRCTC ?

The irctc.co.in site - the official railway ticket booking site of India belonging to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has never been hacked, and there is very less chance of anyone attempting to do so. This might sound strange to you.

In a country like India where due to abundance of talented IT and programming talent, the claim that no one will even attempt to hack IRCTC doesn't seem right.

Especially when there are great benefits of doing so.

Of course new programmers do get excited and try and hack a website. After all what it requires is some good and intelligent programming. Although there are no known hacks, some well known hackers might be considering making an autobot that will just require to fill in captcha at the time of ticket booking. Basically on one single click the bot will automatically try to book Tatkal ticket at 10 am and will prompt you only for captcha. Captcha can also be bypassed though. No one has yet created such a hack. However …
