Now you can cancel your Indian Railway ticket purchased from railway ticket booking window from home within seconds. Earlier it was possible to cancel the online ticket on irctc, but now railway has extended the ticket cancellation service to people who book their tickets at reservation counters.
Follow the process given below to cancel your railway tickets from home:

Step 2: You shall receive an OTP (One Time Password). This OTP will be send to same mobile whose number you had provided at the time of purchasing train ticket at the railway reservation window.
Step 3: If you enter correct PNR you should see details of the PNR on your screen. Go to 'cancel ticket' option for ticket cancellation.
Step 4: After using option to cancel train ticket a certain amount will be displayed on the screen. This will be your refund amount. To know more about irctc cancellation charges click here.
Step 5: Now you can go to railway reservation window and collect your refund by showing details of ticket cancellation to railway staff.
While the above mentioned process to cancel railway ticket is easy, there is even easier method. You can call on 139 to cancel your ticket. To do this, go through how to cancel railway ticket by phone call. Only glitch with this method is that you will need to submit the ticket to original window (window from where you bought the ticket) to get refund.
Other important point to note is, if the train departure time is between 6 pm and 6 am, you should submit the request for refund within 2 hrs from time when the railway ticket window opens. Otherwise your request will not be considered.
