  1. Humsafar Express: This is a train where all coaches will be of type 3 AC. Many people like to travel in third air conditioned class in India, as they can't afford fare of 2nd AC and 1st AC. The booking in these coaches increases during the summer time. Humsafar is a hindi word meaning companion in english.
  2. Tejas Express: These types of trains are believed to be window to look into the future of Indian Railway passenger train services. These will be very fast trains operating speeds of 130 kmph and have on-board services such as entertainment, local cuisine, Wi-Fi internet. Tejas is a sanskrit name meaning 'one with brightness or sharpness'.

With double AC yatri train services, the passenger carrying capacity of Indian Railways will increase by up to 40 percent. It also means end of waiting list and RAC status of PNR. Uday is a hindi word and it means means 'rise'. Since these trains will run overnight, passengers will reach their destination at the time of surya-uday or sunrise.
  4. Antyodaya Express: These are also long distance trains but they will be unreserved. These superfast trains will run on dense routes. These will provide cheap and fast rail service to the common men. 'Antodaya' means 'rise of the last men'.
  5. Mahamana Express:  These trains have a modified railway coaches with facilities like modern toilets, ladders, LED lights, pantry car with electric chimneys, phone and laptop charging points and other amenities. The fare is 15 percent more than the normal train fare, Thus far only 1 train of this type is in operation.
