It is easy to remember the railway number: 139, as it is also a well known  railway enquiry number. This facility will allow users who don't do online booking to cancel their tickets as easily as those who make use of IRCTC cancellation of tickets service.

There is a good reason for starting this facility. Actually after changes in ticket cancellation and refund rules of railway, people were finding it difficult to return their ticket within stipulated time limit. Also, to make sure that person who really need tickets get it, railway has increased the cancellation charges by two times. Some travel agents also took advantage of changes in rules and started blackmailing the needful customers. As such railway has decided to weed out these middlemen by providing ticket cancellation facility on phone.

Railway customer will also have advantage of not standing in queue for long hours for cancelling their train ticket. This is because along with OTP, time will also be given when a user is required to submit his ticket on the counter. Also there will be no need to fill up railway form for cancelling a ticket. The whole process will become fast and easy.
