Get Beautiful Handicrafts on IRCTC portal

Indian Railways and IRCTC are now going to sell and promote beautiful handicrafts on the website. The hint came from railway minister Suresh Prabhu at the occasion of inauguration of Suraj kund Mela ( a popular fair which is conducted each year in Faridabad, city attached to South Delhi in Haryana).

Indian culture is so diverse and so is its art. Unfortunately many of it remains hidden due to lack of exposure and proper platform where it can be promoted and showcased. The unrivaled handicrafts of India often lack the market where they can be displayed properly and bring monetary gains for their makes. Now Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has extended a helping hand by promising to promote these beautiful pieces of art on their portal irctc.co.in which is more popularly known for online ticket booking of railway tickets and providing luxury train tourism services.

While this looks rosy, especially due to large user base that IRCTC portal enjoys, one has to be cautious about the success of this program when it comes to making money for craftsmen by selling their products on IRCTC. This is because of past record. In the past too IRCTC ventured into online shopping business, like irctc shop, but wasn't that successful.

However, one can be pretty confident that with large number of users logging into IRCTC next generation website each day, the crafts and the art is bound to get popular quickly, and who knows it may just prove to be a stepping stone when it comes to creating market for local handicrafts and bringing in more buyers to the craftsmen.

Why even hackers don't hack IRCTC ?

The irctc.co.in site - the official railway ticket booking site of India belonging to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has never been hacked, and there is very less chance of anyone attempting to do so. This might sound strange to you.

In a country like India where due to abundance of talented IT and programming talent, the claim that no one will even attempt to hack IRCTC doesn't seem right.

Especially when there are great benefits of doing so.

Of course new programmers do get excited and try and hack a website. After all what it requires is some good and intelligent programming. Although there are no known hacks, some well known hackers might be considering making an autobot that will just require to fill in captcha at the time of ticket booking. Basically on one single click the bot will automatically try to book Tatkal ticket at 10 am and will prompt you only for captcha. Captcha can also be bypassed though. No one has yet created such a hack. However …
